Following the National lockdown, the government has this week provided Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council with the funding to be able to provide support to our local businesses.
We have now also received further guidance from BEIS on the grants and we are currently working with our software providers. We are hopeful to initially start making payments on the LRSG grants during the week of the 16th November 2020 to those companies that have been mandated to close.
There will be extra information that will be required from these companies, this information will need to be provided via a simple application form, which will be on our website shortly. The information will include:
a. Business Rate payer name
b. Hereditament address
c. Rate payer email address
d. Number of employees
e. Sector
f. Unique identifier (Companies House Number)
Local Restrictions Support Grants (LRSG)
Businesses that are eligible under the LRSG scheme will be those that have been mandated to close by Government during the current lockdown period and include non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses (even if the latter are still open for takeaway)
The value of grants payable under that LRSG scheme are linked to the Rateable Value (RV) for occupied properties and are summarised below –
RV – £15,000 and below = £1334 per 28-day qualifying restriction period.
RV – above £15,000 and below £51,000 = £2000 per 28-day qualifying restriction period.
RV – £51,000 and above = £3000 per 28-day qualifying restriction period.
Additional Restrictions Grant (ASG)
We will of course aim to make payments for the ASG scheme as soon as possible, but there is extra preparation work to do first. The criteria for this part of the scheme is not as straightforward so may require some more manual input.
Under the Additional Restrictions Grant, Local Authorities will receive a one-off lump sum payment to fund additional business support. We envisage this will primarily take the form of discretionary grants to businesses that don’t qualify for help under the LRSG scheme but we could also use this funding for wider business support activities. The aim is to provide appropriate support for the financial years 2020/21 and 2021/22. We will be working with the other Warwickshire D&B’s to design a scheme to try to ensure some level of consistency, but this is likely to take longer to implement and is also aimed to be in place for a longer period of time.
