Members of the public who enjoy cycling have a chance to receive a £50 voucher to get their old bike repaired through the new Fix your Bike Voucher Scheme!
The scheme has been created to encourage more people to cycle, boost the number of commuting and leisure trips, as well as promote an alternative to public transport whilst social distancing rules are in place.
The Fix your Bike Voucher Scheme is open to anyone in England who has an unused bike that requires a repair, however the number of vouchers available are limited.
Vouchers can be used by mechanics, mobile cycle repairs businesses and local cycle shops that are registered for the scheme in England, and up to two vouchers can be claimed per household.
Cllr Ian Lloyd, Portfolio Holder for Arts and Leisure said:
“This is a great opportunity for local residents to get their bike out the back of the shed/garage and get back on the saddle, knowing their bike is safe and road worthy using this voucher towards a service/repair.
“Whilst it is a first come first serve basis to apply for the voucher, we want to ensure our residents are aware of the scheme and take advantage of it”.
Michele Kondakor, Chair of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Cycle Forum said:
“We hope many people can take advantage of this funding to re-engage with cycling and experience the health benefits, both mental and physical, that it can bring.”
Registrations for members of the public who would like to apply for the scheme will open at 11:45pm on Tuesday 28 July 2020. For more information visit: www.gov.uk/guidance/fix-your-bike-voucher-scheme-apply-for-a-voucher
