Employment & Self-Employment Coronavirus Help
Your rights as an employee, self-employed etc, incl who can be furloughed

Naomi Schraer, News Reporter | Edited by Johanna Noble, Associate Editor 30 March 2020 | Updated 7 April 2020
The coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we live. It’s an anxious and upsetting time, and while the primary concern is health, many of us have lost our jobs or found that we can’t continue in business. This guide looks at your rights at work for the employed, self-employed and others, including who’s eligible for furlough, and also what help is out there from the state.
Important: The info below is the best we have currently, but as this is a fast-changing situation we’re updating this guide all the time. If you’ve a question that isn’t covered below or in the other coronavirus guides, please email it to us (we can’t respond with personal advice but we’ll try to add answers in these guides). You can also respond to the MSE Coronavirus Survey – we’ll pass the findings to the Government to help form its response to the outbreak.
